The Bugatti is a very close friend of special or one-off publications. Especially since we presented the Bugatti Veyron, the number of “discrete” versions is such that if we decided to list them would take time.

Now though, with a press release, the French firm under German ownership, announced that over the next 12 months will present another 6 special editions in a row to be named Bugatti Legend. All of them will be based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse – you know, the fastest roadster in the world with final 408.84 mi/h – and all of them will be dedicated to an extremely influential person of the long history of the brand. As stated by Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, President of Bugatti Automobiles SAS:

The brand has been defined largely by exceptional personalities and historical moments. Through the Bugatti Legends, we want to tell the story of the brand while creating a link between the past and present.

First in the series of these special editions will be the Bugatti Legend “Jean- Pierre Wimille” in honor of the eponymous driver Bugatti in the 1930s. The Jean-Pierre Wimille was the driver who gave the Bugatti two wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: 1937, a Bugatti 57G Tank co-driver Robert Benoist and 1939, a Bugatti 57C Tank co-driver Pierre Veyron. Inspiration for the design of “Jean-Pierre Wimille” is Blue 57G Tank that led to victory in 1937.

This means that we expect this to be unveiled at Monterey Auto Week in California, USA the middle of next month – and will make her appearance in the course Pebble Beach Concours d ‘ Elegance two days later – have blue nail in carbon fiber and an open Wimille Bleu at rest bodywork, with corresponding interior. Production for the Bugatti Legend “Jean-Pierre Wimille” will be limited to only 3 copies and the price has not been announced yet.
