Call “ambitious” but we had so much, so much time waiting for a Leon of three doors, when it finally appeared, perhaps our exaggerated expectations we have done something to stay cool.
If you look back you will see Dani the other day we spoke Spanish compact wonders about the development of the chassis after the test that subjected him for a week. This three-door should match and improve performance through a more rigid monocoque, with two fewer doors and a battle marginally shorter.
Interior finishes are identical to the five-door, which is good in settings, materials and ergonomics, but is aesthetically to be vanguard kilometers or “Latino” (though VAG wants to sell us otherwise).
On the outside you realize you’re just a different car with the hatchback. Yes, it is shorter than the C-pillar has, the more stretched rear window, but not like the differences between the Astra and Astra GTC. Where the Astra GTC is “Baroque and risky”, the SEAT is purely German. It’s like an Ibiza SC, but better proportioned. Because SEAT Ibiza is somewhat higher in proportion to its height, and the SEAT Leon SC, thanks to its superior length, is more and better proportioned.
Did we like it? SEAT obviously wanted to go for a car that as little “not upset anyone or almost anyone”. A safe bet is often a wager always discreet, and this is the case of SEAT Leon SC, not passions unleashed by his image, but it will be better appreciated by “people in general”.
Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily. Our colleagues in the United States, for example, they go crazy, and say a three-door Cupra version would secure a sale in the U.S..
We are watching the market, looking Scirocco and Astra GTC, we would have preferred a better bet risky, more on that line, instead of the “three-door Golf with the” we’ve had. Sales will dictate the sentence, and probably positive. And sure, maybe when we test sports variant and three doors forget their lack of visual claw, and we fall in love with the dynamics. Be seen.
