In the 80 AMG , while still independent, held a Mercedes-Benz G-Class six wheels, with two rear axles. It was a special order and never has been heard of that car. These days has resurfaced fantasy of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class 6×6 with a video posted on the internet.
In this video we see a Mercedes-Benz G-Class jumps from dune to dune, laughs at the rocks and drift at will through the desert. Besides being a Mercedes-Benz G-Class 55 AMG , with its body kit, its 5.5-liter V8 and 536 hp, is a pickup truck with double rear axle and raised suspension. The car, which some have dubbed “Das Tier” (the beast, in German) weighs 3.8 tons (more or less as two Mercedes-Benz E-Class), has five lockable differentials, 45 cm in height and 37-inch tires.
Is the type of vehicle with open tracks where none existed. Of course, on board, luxury is at the height of the defunct Maybach. For example, the original seats were replaced by four baquets and leveraging the greatest battle, the legroom for rear passengers is far superior to that of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Most impressive of all is that, according to Autoweek, this Mercedes-Benz G-Class 6×6 is the work of Mercedes-Benz and will be on sale. Axel Harries, head of development at Mercedes-Benz G-Class, recognized as the second most expensive model of the brand after the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive (the cost about $ 457,000). Opt for a production of about 20 to 30 units per year.
Obviously, Mercedes has not invested in the creation of this version for so few units. Actually it is a civil extrapolation of existing military version. Recall that Mercedes-Benz G-Class was born in the ’70s as military 4×4, which is still in service in many armies in the world, especially in Europe (in France is manufactured under the name Peugeot P4 and equipped motor 504), but also as far away as Australia.
