We saw it as a concept practically nailed to the production model in the Paris Salon. But it will be in Geneva Motor Show next Tuesday when we see the final production version of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI. Last night Volkswagen released the official press photos of the new model, which will have 220 hp as standard, and an optional enhancement pack of 10 extra horses, to get to 230.

Volkswagen delight in the efficiency of the new model, able to approve an impressive six liters per 100 kilometers consumption. The 0 to 100 per hour falls in six seconds and a half, and the tip is 246 per hour, which speaks highly of the aerodynamics of the new GTI. With the enhancement kit and those 10 extra horses, the Volkswagen Golf GTI goes up to 250 per hour and improvement in a split second the 0-100.

As discussed last September, the performance pack also comes with a limited slip differential and electronically controlled Haldex typology, which is responsible for distributing torque between the front wheels and smart efficiently, improving vehicle yaw control. VAQ Volkswagen calls it. Also available with larger disc brakes (340 mm front and 310 rear, by 312 front and 300 back in the GTI “normal”).

Feature The interior features plaid upholstery, and has finished sober and discreet , with dark gray plastic trim, but brilliant. The steering wheel with brushed aluminum parts “real” (as in Geneva touch it to tell you), it seems just beautiful.

Were offered, as in the previous generation, with manual gearbox or DSG, consumer tastes.

In Germany kick off their price list in €28,350, something that will not stray too far from the Spanish rate. Cheap is not, but we can consider pricey, given its capabilities. Yes, for those of us that like gasoline, “performance pack” is a “must” to see how much it costs for that extra. In Germany seems to cost around € 1500, what seems “a bargain” for the improvement that brings to the table. But of course, we’re talking about a €30,000 car.
