One month the Italian market shows negative signs but unlike previous months, in March the decline has been much more restrained. A total of 132,090 units were sold, representing a decrease of 4.90% over the same period last year.
Regarding the allocation of sales in March the diesel were again the most popular with 72,464 units and followed the gas, which reached 39,364 units. Rose markedly units capable of using alternative fuels, like methane (7,661 units and a 60% increase) and LPG (+37.8% and a total of 11,914 units). Meanwhile hybrids totaled 1,113 units (+114%) and electrical sales increased by 33%, but remain at very low levels, with only 36 units sold.
For polyvalent segments remain the favorite of the Italians, with 51,878 units. Behind are the compact (36 445) and urban (24 306). Both E and F segments are falling more importantly, with decreases of over 25%. By body type, the crossover month showed an upward trend, with a rise of 30%.

The brands had better performance during March were Kia (+39%), Nissan (+28%) and Honda (+84,8%). On the opposite side, Opel loses ground falling by 33%, Subaru down no less than 69% and Mitsubishi also dropped significantly, falling 57%.

The Fiat 500L and has beaten his younger brother for the first time in Italy, and with the introduction of new engines with 105 HP should continue to grow. Other highlights of the month were the Nissan Juke, Renault Clio and Yaris while the C3 is in the doldrums losing ground to more modern rivals. The new Class A also stands to be the top selling premium compact, only behind Giulietta.
