Recently, Jaguar announced that it would present in New York Auto Show the most powerful version of the Jaguar XJ, the Jaguar XJR. First just showed us a picture and gave some technical details, such as its maximum power. But today, after unveiling the Jaguar XKR-S GT and before the public performance under the New York Auto Show, the British firm has published more information about the return of the Jaguar XJR, and a series of photos and a video (both made in La Rioja and in the former premises of Epsilon Euskadi).
Under the hood, roars the supercharged V8 of 5.0 liters. It develops 550 hp at 6,500 rpm and delivers 680 Nm from 2500-5500 rpm (basically the same engine as the Jaguar XKR-S or the Jaguar XFR-S ). The Jaguar XJR is able to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed limited electronically of 280 km/h. Will be linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission (the famous ZF), with a tuning set for the Jaguar XJR.
Adaptive dampers and springs have a new set-up for the Jaguar XJR. The rear axle on the other hand has an electronic differential lock. The management systems and driving aids such as ABS or ESP also points have been made taking into account the new features of the Jaguar XJR. Visually, specific wheels (20”), the grille, skirts and convert the R discreet spoiler on the most interesting of the XJ range. On board, a number of R logos remind their passengers are more powerful in the XJ range.
The upholstery and other materials used in the interior decoration are specific. As if passengers do not like the roar of a V8, the XJR is fitted with a surround sound system from the prestigious British brand Meridian, a team that offers 380 W and 12 speakers. Optionally there is a team of 825 W with 18 speakers that features the Meridian sound system with Trifield technology, placing the occupants in the center of his own concert hall. Which is not a bad choice, as the Jaguar XJR is also available with long wheelbase chassis (+12.5 cm from the XJ).
