According to the product planning manager of Chrysler for the Asia Pacific, Steve Bartoli, should not ask “if” but “when” the possibility of hybrid powertrains in a future Jeep.
The Bartoli went on to say that Chrysler has not yet definite plans for a hybrid / electric powertrain for any of the models as “concerned” for the off-road capabilities and strengths of such a powertrain. The problem is that ever-stricter emissions regulations that apply in Europe and the USA, “push” the Jeep (and any other company) to a decision.
Currently, the only ‘electric ‘model range of the brand is the 500 E that is not even hers but the Fiat. Besides, sold in extremely limited numbers and only in California. Therefore, the Chrysler-Fiat is last among major American manufacturers to list the average consumption of the fleet for 2013.
