The factories of the Japanese brand in France, England and Turkey, working at maximum capacity to meet demand in the European market. At the time, Toyota is in 10 the position with upward trends and interesting is the fact that 20% of cars in Europe are selling hybrid.
The issue is not how many but hybrid sells, but how these cars helped to return to profitability.
In 2008, Toyota Europe was losing money by selling one million vehicles, while last year they sold 828,000 cars, we were profitable
Said Didier Leroy, head of Toyota Motor Europe. As I said, the hybrid constitutes 20% of total sales of the brand in Europe. The same size of 2012 was 13%. “We have never sold as hybrid sell today,” said Didier and continued saying that “if we fail regarding profit margins on these cars, we can not move forward.”
Of course Toyota is not resting on its laurels and wants to return to seven-figure sales numbers but as things stand, the original schedule is rather impractical. Consequently, the European part of the company, plans to sell 1 million vehicles by 2016.
