2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class officially revealed with three engines and AIRMATIC

After a series of leaks and spy photos it’s time for Mercedes-Benz to officially unveil the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class which starts today its commercial course with main features reduced weight, larger dimensions, the efficient engines and the most elegant design.

The C-Class W205 has a length of 4.686 mm (+95 mm in relation to the outgoing generation), a width of 1.810 mm (+40 mm) and a height of 1.442 mm. The wheelbase has grown by 80 mm tapping 2.840 mm, with the luggage reaches 480 liters. With the increased dimensions of the Mercedes-Benz wanted to make a clear differentiation of the new C-Class in relation to CLA.

The external design is modern, fresh, youthful, giving a touch of luxury and borrows many elements from both the revamped E-Class and the S-Class. The design of the interior follows the design philosophy of recent German car company. Pride of place has great outdoor COMAND screen, available in 7-inch and 8.4-inch, the latter being accompanied by a touch pad and head-up display.

The airways are circular with the air conditioning system using data from the GPS, so it automatically closes the flap of recycling when the car enters a tunnel, not to put fumes into the cabin. Also the passenger seat has a sensor that turns off the air bag, car seat just clicks on it. Also features a three-spoke steering wheel, analog clock, new instrument panel, recessed lighting, wood, gloss black and aluminum investment.

It was built on the all-new rear-wheel drive platform MRA. It weighs 100 pounds less than the previous generation, is lower center engines to consume 20% less fuel. In this help and aerodynamics, in which Mercedes-Benz has thrown considerable weight.

The new C-Class has an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.24 Cd version C 220 BlueTEC ECO. It is the first car in its class equipped with cushioned DIRECT CONTROL with three modes: comfort, comfort with sporty features and sports, with the last setting to reduce the ground clearance by 15 mm. The additional equipment and meet the ever changing automatically AIRMATIC air suspension which has five settings “Comfort”, “ECO”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”. The structure is made of 48% aluminum, with the front suspension 4 have connectors and five back.

In terms of engines. Under the long bonnet, initially the new C-Class will be available with three engine sets, two petrol and one diesel.

The C180 version equipped with 1.600 cc turbo petrol engine performance 156 hp with 250 Nm of torque. With this, the C-Class accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds, with an average consumption of 5 litres/100 km and 116 g/km emission of CO2.

Here’s the version C200 with 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine performance 184 hp with 300 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h makes to 7.5 seconds, with an average consumption of 5.3 litres/100 km and 123 g/km emissions of CO2,

Finally the issue there is the C220 BlueTEC 2.2-liter diesel engine performance 170 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h makes to 8.1 seconds, with an average consumption of 4 litres/100 km and 103 g/km emission of CO2.

Later will be added to the engine range 1.600 cc engine oil performance 115 hp and 280 Nm of torque and 136 hp with 320 Nm of torque. Also, the 2.2-liter diesel engine will be a version with 115, 204 and 170 hp (version BlueEFFICIENCY).

The 2.0-liter petrol engine will produce up to 238 hp and the hybrid version C300 BlueTEC HYBRID combines the 2.2-liter diesel engine performance 204 horsepower with an electric motor 20 kW (27 hp), offering average fuel consumption of 3.9 liters / 100 miles, and having active grille.

All engines will be mated to either a new 6-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC PLUS. In additional equipment found wheel drive 4MATIC and a plethora of security systems among which there are the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop & Go Pilot, PRE-SAFE Brake, Brake Assist PLUS, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Parking Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Traffic Sign Assist with Wrong-Way Alert.

Debut will make the report by Detroit in January 2014 with the C180 cost from 33,558 EUR in Germany, from the C200 starts from 36.414 EUR and C220 BlueTEC from 38,675 EUR.
