The BMW is thinking very seriously to expand its activities in North America with a new engine plant.
The Bavarian company already has a plant in Spartanburg, where it manufactures the X3, X5 and X6, but so far, the engines come assembled. Another country that is a candidate for the construction of the plant is obviously Mexico.
The BMW has not confirmed nor denied the reports, but the spokesman, Mathias Schmidt said:
As part of our long-term development strategy, often look different countries for possible locations of future facilities. Has not taken any decision yet, however, for an additional factory.
In this we believe. Indeed, all companies consider alternative and more likely not to have taken any decision yet. But it is the next logical step for the BMW if it wants to expand production in the region.
