With the report of the Detroit Auto Show approaching dangerous rumors and rampant speculation is rampant when one of the central themes is the replacement of the Toyota Supra.

The site cites “well placed” sources reported that Toyota is’ ready to shock the world with a Supra concept car for the North American International Auto Show. Of course Toyota is not confirming the rumor. Do not forget though that the Takeshi Uchiyamada has said previously that he wants the sports car that evolves with Toyota BMW to be comparable with the Supra.

Also, the chief engineer of the GT86, Tetsuya Tada, has said that the company has asked him to “make the Supra replacement as quickly as possible.” The evidence is there but so far we have nothing tangible.

If he could see such a concept presented at NAIAS in mid-January, we can expect something that would compete with the future Acura / Honda NSX . This means hybrid powertrain (engine option with predominantly a turbo four-cylinder 2.5-liter) and at least 400 horses. Finally, if you actually look at the original January, 2017 looks like the most likely date of presentation of the production model.
