The Skoda announced that the Skoda Fabia S2000 will be replaced by the brand new Skoda Fabia R5.

Further information or details do not exist for the new race of Skoda but the company says that an “intensive development program” will begin in early 2014 so that the car is ready for the season of 2015. Apparently the two-liter naturally aspirated engine will give way to a turbocharged 1600ari as defined by the regulations, but other than that the specs are unknown.

The Dr. Frank Welsch, of the Board of Management for Technical Development of Skoda said:

Through its international successes achieved, the current Fabia Super 2000 showed the technical capacity for years. The challenge now is to build on its successes. That’s why we’re working feverishly to develop a new car, based on the Skoda Fabia for the R5 category.
