2015 Ford Mustang is without doubt one of the most anticipated cars of the year and finally, after a teaser, leaks and countdowns, came the day when the American company officially unveiled its new “pony” at a special event in Barcelona with the Ford Ka Concept and Edge Concept.

What you see, whether you like it or not, is probably the most different Mustang in the 50-year history of the automobile. According to the group undertook the design, inspiration (among many others) was the first generation and this is particularly evident in the car’s profile and in some detail.

The overall picture of what you see before you. New grille with trapezoidal grille, new light fixtures, steep slope to the windshield and the classic fastback roof. Interestingly, the bonnet, the wider rear fenders and the “three-dimensional” taillights.

Although the new Ford Mustang has the wheelbase of 2.72 meters the previous generation looks larger than it is little (half a centimeter) shorter. The rear track has increased from 1.57 to 1.65 meters while the car is 3.81 inches wide. It is also 3.55 inches shorter. The differences are small but the image of the new Mustang is visibly more aggressive and more athletic.

Worth mentioning is also that the 2015 Mustang has a completely different and above all independent rear suspension while the front McPherson struts have undergone significant changes so that the car has the correct handling.

The Performance Pack brings the diameter to 355mm front and 330mm rear while the front is now 4 piston calipers. The top braking system to be offered for the Mustang will be that of Brembo discs with six-piston calipers and 380mm. The brakes will be “hidden” inside wheels from 18 to 20 inches depending on customer preference.

What is a big step forward for the new Mustang’s interior. The fact that the design is new, does not really matter than has been significant improvement in the quality and texture of materials. The cabin is used both metal and soft plastic while the overall picture is worthy of the name and to the price expected to require the purchase of a car. To close and inside, to mention that apart from qualitative, the interior of the new Ford Mustang will be higher. Features Intelligent Access, SYNC, MyFord Touch, Track Apps, MyColor institutions and new Shaker Pro audio system.

Finally, the engines. The 2015 Mustang will be offered with different engines in Europe, including turbocharged, four-cylinder 2.3 liter Ecoboost the yield 309 hp and 365Nm of torque and the 5.0-liter V8 with 426 hp performance and 529Nm of torque. In Europe there will be offered the 3.7-liter V6 that produces 305 horses and 365Nm of torque. This engine is the “key” in the U.S. but not sure if it is available in the European market and whether it makes sense given the existence of the Ecoboost. All engines will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, either manual or automatic. The Ford resisted the trend of ‘exotic’ manual 7-rapid or automatic 8-rapid and rejected the prospect of dual-clutch gearbox. Classic stuff.

Finally, along with the coupe version, Ford gave some information on the cabrio. We know we will have a fabric roof and how it is equipped with an electric mechanism. What they do not know at present is whether the rumors are true that the new Mustang is 90 pounds lighter than the model it replaces, the fuel consumptions and prices. Of course, when you consider how the model will arrive in reports in late 2014, the price is something you will learn in a few months from now … Until then you can play with the online configurator.
