After rumors and speculations of several months, the Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG GmbH jointly announced their partnership.
The final agreement will take place shortly before the end of the year, but we know that part of the deal is that the British company would have access to the materials of AMG, which means that it takes to order their V8 engines. Still, Aston Martin will use some electric and electronic parts that have evolved the Germans, so place them in the new V8 models.
On the other hand, Daimler AG is one other shareholder of Aston Martin, after Adeem Investment and Investindustrial and can hold up to 5% of its shares, while the Mercedes-AMG GmbH, the Daimler AG and Aston Martin have signed an agreement as suppliers.
The Director of Product Development of Aston Martin, Ian Minards, said:
We have selected the specific AMG, as a basis for the development process of this engine
The head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Ola Källenius, said in turn:
We are proud to work with Aston Martin and will supply engines, electrical and electronics for their new sportscars. This is a proof of experience in technology and AMG performance issues, as it is a win-win situation for both sides.
