The Honda in cooperation with the authorities of the city of Saitama province of Saitama in Japan started discussions to launch the test of a prototype electric vehicle Micro Commuter. The tests will begin in autumn 2013 in the city of Saitama, under a program for promoting the use of small electric cars in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Honda is working with the city authorities through this test program to be conducted within the city Saitama, will study ways of using transport small size in a social program which has as its aim to resolve various issues arising in movements to urban centers.
During the test program will study the use of small electric vehicle for both short-distance travel elderly people as well as the exchange of vehicle (car-sharing) to move to the city and for commercial purposes. It will also evaluate the use of small electric cars for families with young children. Furthermore, in collaboration with E-Kizuna prozect1, which includes the use of Honda Smart Home System (HSHS), will assess the value of using a small battery electric vehicle for home use.
The Honda Micro Commuter Prototype is an electric car of small size suitable for moving into urban centers. Thanks to Platform Variable designer accessories such as battery, motor and control unit placed under the floor and rear section to be concentrated in a small space. So it was easier to evolution and creation vehicle suitable for various applications and customer needs – in relation to what is around. For the purposes of testing, Honda will grant a vehicle that can accommodate a driver and two children.
