It seems that the tension that exists in North Korea might lead Opel to transfer the production of Opel Mokka from South Korea to Spain.
The General Motors Korea, formerly Daewoo Motors, has four production plants in South Korea to cities Bupyeon-gu, Gunsan, Changwon and Changwon, which annually produce around 1 million cars, including the Chevrolet Malibu, Cruze, Orlando, Spark , Aveo, Trax, Captiva and Opel Mokka.
Opel has received until early May 100.000 Mokka and certainly is an important model for the local market and the economy of South Korea. However, the aggressive intentions of the communist regime in North Korea has forced GM to consider to transfer the production of Mokka and the Chevrolet Cruze in Europe.
The Mokka is likely to be made in Spain, in the factory of Zaragoza. There, Opel also manufactures Corsa, Meriva and Combo with the factory does not have work today to 100% due to overproduction.
Similarly, the GM looks to transfer production of the Aveo from Korea, China and USA.
