Audi has confirmed once again that the Audi R8 E-Tron, will eventually pass in production. The German company has build 10 electric R8 which will not be sold, since everything will be used to further their development, testing and internal evaluation.

The main reason I will not go on the market, is the little autonomy offered to the batteries, and the slow charging time. If in future battery technology improved, Audi may decide to take it off the market. Moreover, the cost of batteries has decreased compared to the predictions of Audi, and so the production of the car was deemed unprofitable.

Mechanical time two electric performance 280 kW (381 hp) with 820 Nm of torque. They are powered by a lithium ion battery 48,6 kWh, making it weighs 1,780 pounds. 0-100 km/h makes 4,2 sec with a top speed electronically limited to 200 km/h.

The autonomy amounts to 215 km with the battery to fully charge via standard household outlet in 12 hours, but through quick charger fills in less than one hour.
