New details released on the next generation of the Audi Q7, which will primarily feature low weight. Anonymous sources within the Audi, said the German Automobilwoche that the new Audi Q7 will weigh about 363 pounds, will be unveiled in the summer of 2014 and will be available in plug-in hybrid version.
The new large German SUV will be built on the long version of the MLB Evo platform and weighs 363 pounds less, due to extensive use of aluminum and carbon, the chassis and body structure. This means 14% reduction compared to the current model, not insignificant percentage. With reduced weight, the new Q7 will have reduced fuel consumption, improved driveability and better braking performance.
Will be built at Audi’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, where manufactured today the current generation, along with the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. In America the Q7 will go on sale from 2015.
To mechanically new Q7 will be wearing a range of TSI and TDI engines and there will be two hybrid versions, with one combines a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine performance 217 hp and a 99 hp electric motor, and the other wearing a V6 TDI with a motor. In TSI engines there will be two V6 engines yield 233 and 304 horsepower, a 3.0-liter V6 TDI, 253 hp performance and the 4.2-liter V8 TDI Performance 405 hp. Regarding the S Q8 version will time the new Twin-Turbo V8 4.0-liter 557 horsepower performance.
In 2016, it will come to market in Q8, the coupe version of the Q7, or else the SUV version of the A8, which will be faced by the Range Rover Sport.
