General Motors gave the green light for the construction of a factory in China to Cadillac, with investment costs coming in at $1.3 billion. The Committee for National Development and Reform Commission of China signed with U.S. giant agreement and construction projects are expected to begin this June, with the factory located in the industrial area of Shanghai, Jinqiao.

The production capacity of the plant will be 150,000 cars a year and the Cadillac aims to sell a lot more than 30.010 new cars released in 2012. This compares Audi sold 400,000 and BMW 330.000 vehicles. The construction of the plant is a great success, as the U.S. company has already said it will transfer the production XTS in China, which will automatically save the 25% import tax.

In fact, the president of GM’s China Bob Socia, said that it is very likely that Cadillac made in China and sold in America. Globalization in all its glory.
