Back in 2008 we sat at the controls of the previous generation RS6 at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. We discover several things about him: his incredible Lamborghini V10 sound, your stuck throughout the rev range, its ability to drive. And hauling the enormous weight above that cost do change direction at will. Although we noted that the car was on rails authentic.

Now is the turn, five years later, get behind the wheel of the new generation 2013 Audi RS6 Avant. And of course, things have changed a lot. Now the signing of the four rings offers a double supercharged V8, with 20 horses less, but with more torque and, especially, with a saving of more than 100 kilos of weight over the previous generation.

Live Show impresses. The Audi RS6 does not leave you indifferent. The unit we were lucky enough to try was “Suzuka Grey” (yes, it looks white), had the optional 21-inch wheels, brakes carbon ceramic behind them, controlled suspension damping hardness dynamic, variable control direction, LED headlamps for all functions, speed limiter extended to 305 km/h.

Interior, the 2013 Audi RS6 Avant offers good space for five and their luggage. It is a full-fledged family car, like any other A6 Avant, and if it is true that other relatives of five meters may have more cargo space, it is also true that the falling roofline it looks great this Avant.

Once underway, the perception of possible changes. It may be less powerful and less “vocal” than the previous V10 RS6, but doubly supercharged V8 has a mid-range punch that make it powerful, and leaves you with a grin on his face, a smile of knowing that is stupid superbly fast. Takes 3.9 seconds in the 0-100, says Audi. For us to give us the feeling that still runs more. And above, does it all with a 30% saving in fuel consumption.

Once you enter the Autobahn, you realize that the 300 per hour figure is not only a catalog, but, in Indeed, it is able to do. Not only that, the Pirelli tires mounted on 21-inch seem welded to the asphalt, as if the car were a kind of high-speed rail clinging to the rails.

2013 Audi RS6 Avant get this than any other Audi: easy to go fast, you have the feeling security, poised tread. It may not be fun, or agile, but it is reassuring to have that feeling drawn to these speeds unperturbed plane.

If we went out to a road of second order, with curves and a bump, we discover several things. To start, traction is always sublime, despite the torrent of torque, as the electronically controlled limited slip differential can handle up to yaw back, bringing not only the car skids or loses traction, but does not lose the path.

Potholes are absorbed by the suspension piloted competition without changing the line, and the car does not feel heavy or clumsy. Eye, does not feel agile and fun, or prone to change trajectory which Lotus Elise. Is a tracer, Audi-style, where the fun is not in his amazing ability to go fast. No. There is a passionate car in the corner by corner. But will thrill speeding.

A conclusion? If you want a quick barbarously machine to take the kids to school when they have fallen asleep, this is the car. This is the missile that perfectly blends supercar performance with behavior plumbing and space for any family.

Clearly not as fun or passionate as an Jaguar XFR or a BMW M5, but the Audi customer is different. And believe me, in aesthetics, this RS5 Avant has conquered us. Their money’s worth, which is as big as its capabilities: €129,100 no less.
