The CEO of Volvo, Hakan Samuelsson, from Shanghai Motor Show said the company does not have anything to gain by tearing market a large sedan car which will be located across from the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series and Mercerces-Benz S-Class.
To 2011, Volvo had presented the original Universe and You and some people had begun to dream of a large sedan by the Swedes, despite the statements of former CEO of Volvo, Stefan Jacoby.
We have absolutely no ambition to jump in the market such a car since I think does not fit the image of our brand.
Behind his words Samuelsson hiding two things. Initially, the weakness of Volvo supports large V8 and V12 engines that are necessary for such a model, but also the fact that Volvo focuses on the new platform SPA and the new four-cylinder engines.
O CEO remains confident that Volvo will catch the target of 200,000 sales in China by 2014, while in 2012, Volvo sold just 42,000 cars, -11% compared with 2011. I really wonder how the Volvo will be able to catch this objective it has set.
The ultimate goal of the Volvo is selling 800,000 cars worldwide by 2018. In 2012 it sold 421,951 cars, -6.1% compared to what it sold in 2011. Swedes have one ace up his sleeve or in a few years we will revise down those numbers? Only time will tell.
