The Austria car market follows the general trend already seen in other European countries and in the first quarter sales have closed with negative numbers. Specifically sales fell 9.85% in the previous year to reach a total volume of 80,024 units.
Segments B and C are still the most important in this market are the crossover while those who resist better the general fall sales. Electric vehicles are not going through its best in Austria and in the first quarter were sold only 29 units of which 7 are the Opel Ampera and the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric both.
Regarding brands that closed in positive first quarter must mention Toyota (+34.3%), Land Rover (+48.7%), Mercedes-Benz (+16.5%) and SEAT (+10.5%). The success is mainly due to the launch of the new Toyota Auris, the introduction of the new generation of Range Rover, A-Class and SEAT focusing on the arrival of Toledo and Leon, the latter garnering very good data.
