Classrooms are conducive to all kinds of rumors, often fed by people of the brand. And New York is not a excecpion. In Manhattan, the chief designer of Kia in the U.S., Tom Kearns, told What Car? Kia would be working on a rival to the Toyota GT86. “We conducted a two-seater coupe, rear-drive and affordable,” said Kearns.

Though this kind of car would not volume, would be an ideal vector Kia fame that seeks to position a little higher, in terms of image. Kia is now perceived as a reliable and affordable brand, but no soul and that does not draw attention to sensitive customer or passionate prestacionales models.

Given the success in terms of image Toyota GT86, Kia is not the only brand that poses a similar car. Are we seeing the start of a new golden age of the coupes?

Moreover, Kearns said the Kia Soul could lead to a number of new models in the family Soul, as a convertible or a small sports. His intention is to make the Kia Soul in an equivalent MINI or the Volkswagen Beetle .
