Not so long ago 100hp/liter engine displacement was an accomplishment reserved for some racing machines and a handful of road cars. With the renewed rise of supercharged engines, and it is common. In New York Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz introduced the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG whose 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine delivers 360 hp (180 hp/liter).
As usual in AMG, the engine delivers wave after wave of torque. The 450 Nm of torque is available between 2,250 rpm and 5,000 rpm, but more surprising is that the torque is limited electronically in the first three gears. Enough, anyway, to bring down the 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds thanks to the dual-clutch 7-speed and AWD. As for aesthetics, long front overhang is not as noticeable in the way “arrowhead” of his nose. Seen live, no doubt, is on track to be a success.
